Pretty Museum, new Pretty All Friends story info

Like I said on Twitter, there’s a Pretty Museum event which started at Tokyo’s anime center on April 21, will last till May 13 2018. It’s a museum like event showing all kinds of things about the Pretty Series. Pretty Rhythm, PriPara, KING OF PRISM, and Kiratto Pri ☆chan. They show non credit OP&ED, making of, storyboards, designs etc.

Most Yakuzas in Tokyo went there the 1st day and put pics on Twitter. Emu san posted lotsof pics. Early design PP pics too, which IIRC some of which were already in a PP book. I love PP but not as much as PR, and I’m not rich so I’m not buying the PP books.
Note that the Pretty Series explanation in the event includes KING OF PRISM in it. I could swear before they would consider it in but implicitly, only saying Pretty Rhythm is part of it, and the KING OF PRISM is part of Pretty Rhythm. Nice they changed that.
They definitely know what Pretty All Friends will be, (either a movie, a tv anime, a game, a drama CD like thing, a novel or even just goods) as that kind of thing is planned long in advance, but seems they still won’t tell us anything. The only thing we know about PAF so far is it’s a very good merchandising way to sell goods of all Pretty Series together. The cosmetics goods they released at thestart of April at Prism Stone shops are pretty popular.

However Pretty Museum also has a Pretty All Friends corner, with a “new” visual. It’s the same as before except they added each girl’s mascot. The mascots have been redesigned.

uruoisan was saying how they don’t like it how Rabichi is actually cute now, made me laugh a lot. The AD mascots  were ugly on purpose after all.

They also published story text for Pretty All Friends.

Pretty All Friends story intro text:

“Prism Stone Shop!! The only shop where every girls’ dreams and latest fashion gathers. When they arrived at Prism Stone one day, its atmosphere seemed different…Turns out it was a special day!! Under the effect of the Rainbow Bridge, multiple worlds’ Prism Stone Shops have merged!!  Multiple girls are guided by the Rainbow Bridge and are brought together: Aira, Mia, Naru, Laala and Yui. Inside the shop, they meet with Akaii Meganee who tells them the following: You girls are the chosen Pretty Friends! Travelling using the Rainbow Bridge, you will do live shows in many different worlds to collect Sparkle and gather your friends. Doing this, I want you girls to revive the All Friends Coord currently sleeping in the country of singing and dancing,  Pretty Prism Paradise. The girls are excited hearing about a legendary coord. Following Aira’s suggestion, they decide to take up the team name  “Pretty All Friends”. Boarding the “NEW Prism Trailer”, they embark on a tour across various worlds to gather the Sparkle and meet new friends. Thus starts the adventure of the legendary dream team.”

“Episode 1 ” text:

“The first place the “Pretty All Friends” team arrived at is the Mascot Graveyard. The mascots there all seemed to be depressed and lifeless…
“What’s going on, these mascots aren’t sparkling at all!”, “They lack dreaminess” Mia and Yui shared their thoughts. Suddenly, they started to recognize familiar figures… Shocked, they realize that their own mascots were in the Mascot Graveyard!! The girls ask them what happened. It seems that the mascots wanted to follow them in their tour, but lost their way and out of all places ended up in the Mascot Graveyard . This place sucks up the Sparkle inside the mascots, so they became unable to leave. In order to make everyone happy again, the All Friends decide to do their first live show of their tour. Needless to say, the song they chose as their first song is  “You May Dream” . Reinvigorated, the mascots decide to travel with the girls, like they always did. Now, let’s go look for the next Sparkle!!”

Impressions: Being the first heroine, Aira is the leader it seems. It’s funny they wrote it in such a childish way (I tried to reflect this in my translation) because another thing we know about PAF so far is it’s aiming the adults and people who were fan of Pretty Rhythm and PriPara who grew up. That’s why they released the cosmetics goods. And if you compare with their anime designs, each heroines look a bit older in the PAF visual. In a sense PAF is what I always dreamed about, and what I thought the PR All Star Selection tv anime would be about when it was announced. Though I want it to include Kinpri and Prichan, basically everyone. And make Akaii Meganee the final boss who actually tricked them.

As you should know, Rainbow Bridge is what you see Rinne on in RL and what they use to travel between worlds. Coo’s trailer in RLKinpri is the “Prism Stone trailer”, so I guess they travel in something similar. And they’ll drive it on the Rainbow Bridge. It’s like Magic Bus. I hope the “you’re gonna meet more friends” part means more characters will appear.

At first it seems it’s going to be a “let’s recover the sparkle” type of story for the nth time, like they did in one of the movies or what they did with the PriPara Switch game’s OG story with Mirai. But then turns out it’s a story on how they all became something similar to the Rinne system. Except they’re not Rinnes. They also seem to be the real characters and not virtual copies like Saints was supposed to be. “Supposed to be”, as you should already know, this isn’t true anymore, Aira Mia Naru appeared in IPP so the Saints did not turn out to be virtual. Like PR director said, that was just his idea and the PP anime did something else than his metaplot in the Pretty Rhythm&PriPara movie .

It’s really well thought too. At first I was wondering why the mascots were in the graveyard since only mascots who failed something end up there. They got lost and ended there unwillingly.

While it’s reusing many lore elements they talked about in Pretty Rhythm (Rainbow Bridge, Mascot’s Graveyard etc) PAF’s background may also turn out to be completely new and unrelated background to past series. Akaii Meganee mentions a world called “Pretty Prism Paradise” which isn’t “Prism World”. Until now despite being multiple parallel universes: ADMF, RLKinpri, PriPara, they were all connected by the same “Prism World”. Anyway it’s too early to tell for now. And they probably won’t elaborate on it much in the end anyway, so while I find it a bit interesting, it’s kinda useless speculating.

It’s really fun though. Even if they just publish the story in text form in events like that. It can also be taken as a meta story with all the past heroines trying to get everything back and get their own new anime or movie or whatever greenlighted at the end.

Pretty Series movie, “Gekijouban PriPara&Kiratto Pri☆Chan ~Kirakira Memorial Live~” announced for May 5th 2018

PriPara official twitter announced on February 27 a new movie: Gekijouban PriPara&Kiratto Pri☆Chan ~Kirakira Memorial Live~. This will be last PP focused movie before Prichan takes over. It’s interesting they call it a “Pretty Series” movie and not just a “PriPara movie”, I guess it’s to show that similar to the 1st PP movie, it’ll also have Pretty Rhythm characters in it, but also Kiratto Pri☆Chan characters. I think even if PriPara ends, it’s possible future Prichan movies that are CG compilations with no real story will still have PR and PP characters in them.

They published a 1st teaser which is just PP scenes so nothing new. Maybe some of this won’t even be in the actual movie too since it’s just a teaser. Prichan would already have 5 episodes aired by the movie’s release, so the movie will probably focus on Prichan stuff and then feature PP and some bits of PR,  so you shouldn’t get your hopes up too much if you want more of the PR or PP girls.

There will surely be stage greetings events with i☆Ris. Their lastest song is titled Memorial too and its MV is like a farewell to PP with all the PP costumes they used in the past appearing in it. There might be events with the seiyuu too. And there will definitely be Cheer Screenings . Even before Kinpri revolutionized Japanese cinemas and made Cheer Screening ultra popular, they already did them in 2014 with the final screenings of the Pretty Rhythm movie for example, so there’s no reason they wouldn’t do it for this too.
They haven’t announced it yet, but similar to past movies there will definitely be a part that changes depending of the screening too. It would be funny if they do multiple routes like the 1st PP movie and include a boys route with WITH and PR males.

I’m not sure if this movie is supposed to be the Pretty All Friends project. What’s really weird is that for the PAF key visual, they bothered making new clothes and art, but for this PPxPrichan movie, the key visual just recycles art from each seasons’ key visual. Canamaji san also pointed out how the source code for the official site doesn’t mention “Pretty All friends” at all, and the summary seems to point out Prichan will be the main focus of the movie, so it’s still possible PAF will turn out to be yet another thing announced at a later date. In any case I was expecting PAF to be a CG compilation movie anyway, so if it’s indeed this, I’m not really surprised or disappointed. But I still hope Pretty All Friends will be something and an actual crossover with plot.

This movie will be directed by Nobutaka Yoda, who did Tobidasu PriPara ~Miina de Mezase! Idol Grand Prix(the 2nd PP movie which used 3D and afaik doesn’t have a DVD/Bluray release, so no one outside Japan has actually seen it). Script is by Fukuda Hiroko. It seems it’ll just be a compilation of CG scenes with no particular story like all the movies except the 3rd PP movie(the PriParis one which was the only “real” movie). There will probably be a baton touch like scene at the end with Aira Mia Naru Laala Yui Mirai Emo doing a live together.

They also announced the name of the OP for Prichan.

Lastly the fact that this movie exists confirms what we all already knew anyway, Prichan will still use CG for its live scenes.

Edit: They also revealed Prichan starts airing on April 8 at 1000JP time, first time Pretty Series uses this timeslot, and info about two more characters, Anna and Sara.
Akagi Anna(red hair one): Middle school 1st year at Kirari, a popular Pri☆Chan Idol. She looks like an oujou sama and her self produced channel reeks of celebrity, but she’s actually very childish and selfish. She doesn’t get along well with Mirai and Emo.
Midorikawa Sara: (green hair one.lol as expected someone called Midorikawa) Same year same school. She’s Anna’s best friend. She’s cool and has a rock and boyish fashion style. She refers to herself with “boku”.She follows Anna like her shadow, often restraining her when she goes out of control.

And it seems the Prism Jump/Making Drama equivalent in Prichan is called “Yatte Mitta”.

In other news in case you haven’t seen it on Twitter, PR director Hishida Masakazu storyboarded episode 8 of Hugtto Purikyua. He posted about it on Insta. He said it’s the first time he worked with Tsubota Fumi since Rainbow Live ended and it was tons of fun, and he didn’t think he’d get to work on a Toei show one day so he’s really happy. I’d like to watch the show but don’t really have the time, I’m trying to catch up on PriPara so I’m  using all my anime time on it and not watching anything else. I want to watch IPP before Prichan starts and do episodic blogging for it.
I still haven’t watched Kinpri2, maybe next weekend. It seems besides the new Yanpri goods each month, and Prichan’s launch with more info a tAnimeJapan2018, there won’t be any big news these next months. Kinpri will probably get a new thing announced at the June 10 2018 concert event. Until then, I’d like to finish translating the interviews in the PR All Star Selection guidebook, and then start the Kinpri books and bonus material like the stuff in the kinpri 2 Hiro special edition(stage greetings, events, etc), plus all the fan reports and other interviews on the net I have saved.  Honestly there’s so much stuff I’m not sure when I’ll ever finish translating everything though.

PriPara’s successor Kiratto Pri☆Chan announced for April 2018

Official abbreviation is “Prichan”.

Crunchyroll’s article is pretty complete, like always Japanese sites ilke Animate had more details which I added though. I also included some staff reactions and some of the thoughts of my Pretty Rhythm Yakuzas comrades so it took me a while to go through everything, plus I had other things to do IRL, hence why the post is a bit late.

Bots spamming guro pics on popular tweets like FGO fanart stopped by Pretty Rhythm yakuza Chupacabra san

Edit: ANN even posted about it too

Already wrote about it on twitter, see above tweets, but this is awesome so I should make a blog post about it too.

Remember how in May 2017 , KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-  (Kinpri 2) had a few pre release screenings? The first one was on May 17th, with a stage greeting with Director Hishida, Terashima, Takeuchi and Niconico personality Iwai Yuuki. I wrote about it here. After that there were a few other pre screenings until the actual movie release on June 10th. And then, someone ill-intended made a bot account with Kinpri 2 spoilers in its name and summary and would follow/favorite Pretty Rhythm fans to spoil them. So some of the fans made an app to block those accounts. There’s 2 fans I follow who both had the same idea at the same time and each made an app, Sakuramochi san and Chupacabra san.

You’ve probably heard about this: since the start of 2018, there’s been bot accounts on Twitter spamming gore/mutilated bodies/SM and such kind of gruesome photos to popular tweets related to franchises like Azur Lane, Kancolle, Granblue, Fate, etc. It’s been going on for like 2 weeks and Twitter hasn’t done anything to stop it afaik.

https://twitter.com/guro_police/status/953140218042789888

Most fandoms have started to take measures against it, using the hashtag  ,making lists of the bot accounts, and even specifically making Twitter accounts to counter it, like @Guro_police. Warning: don’t try your luck and check the blocked accounts’ pages, some have gruesome photos even on their header.

Everything changed when a few days ago, Chupacabra san reworked his old app that was used to block the Kinpri2 spoilers accounts, to block the guro accounts. His app went viral and tons of people are using it, and the problem seems to have been contained for now.

Some tweets talking about it went viral too. “The guro block appli, it was originaly used to block Kinpri spoilers. It’s like war technology being used for peace”

It’s awesome because some big news site even reported about it and interviewed Chupacabra san.  He asked them if possible to mention the whole story and how it was initially for Kinpri spoilers, and they did, so it made some publicity to Kinpri 2 and the Pretty Series fandom too. (Pretty Series=Pretty Rhythm, Kinpri, PriPara). I’m really proud of the Japanese fandom and especially the older fans aka Pretty Rhythm yakuzas. This case reminded me of tons of cool things they did in the past. All the fan events, all the promotion, all the effort they provided to make KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm (Kinpri1) popular. One thing I remember writing about was when a few days after Kinpri 1, released and some theaters were empty, they’d make maps and itineraries to go there and post it on twitter. Like, “Theater xxx is only 40 minutes from station xxx, if you don’t live too far you should go!!”.  And stuff like that.  I’ve been kinda busy these past weeks and I still haven’t got time to finish the “Pretty Rhythm&PriPara&Kinpri history” post I’m making to summarize and explain the franchise and how KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm became hugely popular. And seeing stuff like that really motivates me to finish it to show all the things the fans did. It’s really awesome.

Anigera 7th December 2017(271), 14th December 2017(272), Triple George with Sugita Tomokazu, Furuya Yamato, Kobayashi Tatsuyuki

There’s no spoilers for KING OF PRISM- PRIDE the HERO- , except for one fact about George they had revealed in interviews prior the movie release, so if you’ve read my previous posts you should know it already.

This is a summary of the Kinpri related production info and jokes they said on Anigera episodes 271 and 272. Similarly to my other radio shows summary, it’s written in a very crude&fast way.

Sugita Tomokazu voices Takadanobaba George in KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-. (aka Kinpra or Kinpri 2)
Kobayashi Tatsuyuki voices George when he’s singing, he’s his ghost singer.
Furuya Yamato is George’s actor in the stage play, KING OF PRISM-Over the Sunshine!- (aka Butakin)

Anigera Didoooon!! is Sugita’s radio show. He hosts it with his friends game journalist Mafia Kajita, Kedouin Makoto(yes, Corpse Party’s author) and Asakura, an animator. On episodes 271 and 272, Kobayashi and Furuya were present as guests.
When Kinpri 2 was in production the staff called Aoni, Sugita’s agency, and he got the role for George without even passing an audition. Director Hishida also said he made George around the same time they called Sugita and it’s a bit like if he made the character for him. Sugita advertised Kinpri 1 a lot on every radio show he appeared in in mid 2016.

Kobayashi Tatsuyuki voices George when he’s singing, he’s his ghost singer. He’s also Asahi in Idol Time PriPara. He also sang OP2 of Saikyou Ginga Ultimate Zero Battle Spirits(Batosupi6), which was a pretty good show you should watch. It’s fine to watch it even if you haven’t seen past Batosupi seasons. Director Hishida was also the episode director for episode 44 and also did its storyboard. The most appealing thing about Batosupi6 is definitely the original, refreshing, hard lined chara design by Ishikawa Tetsuya. Ishikawa actually worked on the Kinpri movies as an animator, and is also among the many personalities, mangaka, singers etc who advertised the first Kinpri movie on Twitter and part of why it became popular. But I digress, and you should be able to read about all this in detail very soon if I manage to finish my “Everything you should know about Pretty Rhythm and the KING OF PRISM phenomenon” thing.

Episode 271

Episode 271 starts with a sketch, something they often do on Anigera. It’s a pretty funny Getter Robo parody with Sugita, Furuya and Kobayashi each acting George.

After introducing themselves, they talk about how the “Butakin” nickname for the stage play is super funny. They also talk how Kinpri was the first movie to use ouenjouei/cheer screenings profusely and popularize it, showing it can be a mean to success. And how a lot of other movies are doing it too now.

The three of them had already contacted each other on Twitter DM saying they need to meet up one day, but Sugita couldn’t go to that meeting, so he decided to talk with his radio staff to see if they could invite them.

Both Furuya and Kobayashi knew Sugita before Kinpri happened, but never met him in person. Furuya says he doesn’t watch much anime but he knew about Sugita since he’s in very popular shows. When he was chosen to act George in Butakin, he was super nervous, wondering if he’ll be able to portray a Sugita voiced character properly. He felt a lot of pressure. Then he went to watch the movie, and got even more confused when it turns out it’s not Sugita when George is singing. Plus he wanted to get an idea of the character, but George has very few lines in it, so it didn’t give him enough info at all. So then he went to see Kinpri 1, but George doesn’t even appear in it as he’s a character made for Kinpri 2. So Furuya was really lost. In the end, he inspired himself with Gintoki in Gintama and even listened to tons of Anigera past episodes.  Sugita says it reminds him of the Blazblue stage play, Ragna’s actor had the same problem and was super worried if he’d be able to portray Sugita’s character correctly. He was really happy when Sugita praised him about it, saying ‘it’s fine yo be yourself, your Ragna was great’.

Kobayashi talks about the recording of George singing the Love Mix song in Kinpri 2. At first he was really lost, because he thought he had to sing in a way that sounds like Sugita’s voice. But then the staff explained to him that even in the story, George does use a ghost singer, so it’s totally fine even if the 2 voices sound completely different. They told him it’s fine to just sing like a “sparkling normal idol”. So then it was much easier.

The name Takadanobaba comes from the train station with the same name. They don’t actually talk about it so that’s just info from past posts I’m repeating: in the past Hishida director said he often passes near Hirokouji station during walks. Then it became a private joke between him and the fans, because of Hiro and Kouji. That’s why he decided to name George after a station. But Hiro and Kouji weren’t named after Hirokouji as far as I know. It was a coincidence.

Sugita says the cheer screenings are definitely one of the big appeals of the Kinpri movies. And you can actually do it at home, just not too loud to not bother neighbors.

As he already said many times back in 2016, Sugita went to see Kinpri 1 twice when it released. The first time, it was right after seeing the movie Doukyusei which he though was a movie adapted from the bishoujo game Doukyusei. Turns out it was adapted from a yaoi manga with the same name. He was the only guy in the theater. But the movie was pretty good, so then when getting out, he saw the ad for Kinpri1 and was like, “might as well go watch this other yaoi looking movie, maybe it’ll be good too”.And he was absolutely amazed by it. So he invited one of his friends to go watch the movie again. He had already seen some if not all of Pretty Rhythm before seeing the movie too. Anyway back to Anigera, Sugita says he’d actually like to go to the events etc as a simple fan but can’t. Like the Wrap Up Party events in Tokyo and Osaka which he then promotes.

episode 272

They talked about a lot of random things in this episode, but less about Kinpri.

Furuya had to improvise a lot of George’s lines in Butakin. I guess this means  each representation was different. Stage play George talks a whole lot more compared to anime George. Furuya says that he thought “if it was Sugita san, he’d go overboard and say tons of stuff”, so that’s why it turned out like this.

Tatsuyuki was named like that by his parents to evoke a dragon soaring into the skies, and to reflect how they wanted to see him grow up well.

Prism☆Afureko/Prism Dubbing screenings announced for KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-

On August 29 the male/female separated Kinpri2 screenings were held, with Kato Emiri/Naru and Gotou Saori/Otoha doing the stage greetings, along with Avex producer Nishi Hiroko who was acting as MC like she often does. They announced that starting September 2, KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-/Kinpri2/Kinpra will have Prism☆Afureko/Prism Dubbing screenings. These screenings follow the same rules as ouenjouei/cheer screening(cosplay OK, cyalume OK, screaming OK etc), but all the characters’ lines are muted and subtitles are displayed, so the audience can dub the movie themselves.

From September 2 to 8, theaters across Japan will show a sample version, made by the female characters’ voice actresses. Confirmed so far are Kato Emiri/Naru, Uchida Maaya/Wakana and Mikako komatsu/Ito. Moreover they confirmed this sample dubbing will be included as bonus in the KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO- Bluray. There’ still no release date for it though.

More things about the event: According to both news site and fans’ reports on Twitter, the audience’s reaction was tremendous when they announced the female seiyuu’s dubbed version, and Kato san Gotou san and Nishi san all got moved to tears.
When Nishi san asked them who’s they’re favorite character in Kinpri 2, Gotou Saori said Kakeru and Kato Emiri said George. When asked about how they felt when dubbing Kinpri 2, they said that instead of thinking that the boys became girls, they just voiced out their feelings naturally. They think people will do the same when attending Prism Dubbings screenings, and they even made a Twitter hastag for it: , which can be translated as “Kinpra the way you feel it”.

During the male only screenings, seems Wald9 9 had some kind of technical trouble, so the audience started cheering for the staff, and someone screamed “get back uuuup!! Waaald 9!!!” Like Kouji does to Hiro in the movie(not a spoiler since you can see it in a PV)

This is pretty cool news so making a post specifically for it instead of simply reporting it on Twitter. I’m already extremely hyped to watch the movie. And now I’m ever more hyped to watch thegirl’s dubbed version. Can’t wait to hear Naru wakana and Ito voice Alexander.

Kinpri got into anime history in 2016 and made Cheer Screenings popular. Tons of other movies are doing it now. These new Prism Dubbing are interesting, as it shows they know Kinpri was ahead of it’s time with the cheer screening (though technically speaking it wasn’t the first movie who did it) and so they want to keep their lead. Like a technology race. Prism Dubbing is pretty much the next step after Cheer Screenings, allowing you to dub the whole movie. Surely this will become popular as well. Pretty Rhythm is such an exciting series. I wish I’d be able to write about it in some official news site or magazine.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but Amazon started listing a KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO- setting book to be released on October 25 2017.  This is basically the guidebook of Kinpri 2. It’ll definitely have new information, along with all the background information the director and staff talked about at various stage greetings since the movie’s release. I have that info already, thanks to fans on twitter always writing reports, but I haven’t read it yet to avoid spoiling myself, and waiting for the DVD/BD release. If God wills, I’ll definitely get  this new book and translate the interviews in it, like I’m doing with the others guidebooks. I’m kinda busy these days so I haven’t got the time to translate a new interview in a while though. I still haven’t finished translating the ones in the PRASS guidebook.

Edit from 26 October 2017

After asking a fan(Thank you Sakuramochi san), I realized I got this all wrong, I’m terribly sorry. Actually the Prism Afureko thing is much simpler than that. You know how Kinpri 1 had scenes which were subbed, and the audience would dub them during Cheer Screenings. Needless to say there’s scenes like this in KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO- too, and these Prism Afureko screenings has the girls seiyuus dubbing these scenes instead of the audience. They didn’t redub the whole movie with the girls, nor do you get to dub the whole movie yourself.  You dont’ get to see stuff like Naru voicing Alec for a scene. Again I’m sorry. Not the first time I get something wrong but it’s been a while since it last happened.

Saints’ Mia to appear in Idol Time PriPara

Source

It has been announced on August 19th that Mia, the legendary Kami idol and part of the group Saints, will appear at some point in Idol Time PriPara. Just like Mia in DMF, she will be voiced by Ookubo Rumi. I don’t know how her family name is read, but it’s 華園, different from Ageha.

They updated the official Idoltime PP anime site too with Mia. Her description doesn’t say anything different than above though.

Like the cool kids on the net say these days: ITS HAPPENING

MY GOD I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS

So, I remember back when the first PP movie was released, the one with the Pretty Rhythm routes. Back then, PR Director Hishida Masakazu said in a very long interview I translated that the Pretty Rhythm characters who appear in the movie aren’t real, that they’re just data made from the matrix thing existing and accumulating data from both Pretty Rhythm universes and PriPara universe. And so, the Saints aren’t real too. But he added that it’s just his own explanation, and that one day they might use Saints in the PriPara TV anime and give another explanation or say something competently different about them.

I’m extremely excited for this, but at the same time I’m not expecting anything, because PriPara already disappointed me so many times now. S1 was boring 90% of the time and felt like it was written on the clock(remember how Prism Voice was never ever mentioned again?) and S2 was much better but still had tons of wasted potential. So much that I still haven’t got around to watch season 3. (if you’re interested about what was wrong with S2 you can read my older posts like this one)
I don’t know what they’ll do with Mia, but I know it won’t be good enough. PriPara is wasted potential:the anime. At least I’m mature enough to not care, and won’t get angry or say stuff like they’re ruining the lore or retroactively ruining Mia if they write her in a real dumb way. I can expect this seeing what they already did for so many characters in PP so far.

IIRC in PP episode 1, they say Saints has been retired for 4 years. And IIRC at least two years have passed in PriPara since the beginning, which explains why she looks older. She slightly looks a bit like her future self shown at the end of Grateful Symphonia in DMF episode 50.

This probably means Saints version of Aira and Naru will appear soon as well. Now, I’m wondering if they’ll introduce more Pretty Rhythm characters or if it’ll only be those three. If they introduce more, it could be a good basis to make a full crossover. They already teased a tenth anniversary project for 2020 and 2021. 2020  will be the game’s 10th anniversary, and 2021 the anime’s( Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream to be exact). I wish they make a AD DMF RL Kinpri Idol Time PP all series crossover.

In any case, now I really need to watch PriPara season3 and catch up all the way to season 4/Idol Time.

Oh and they’re also adding a new girl called Shuuka.(probaly pun on shuukan/week and the characters all have time related names). And she has the same family name as Mia, 華園, so she’s probably her sister.

IRL Mia wonders if it’ll be the same Mia as in DMF or will she be different. (Laughed at the first reply saying”I stopped watching PP but now I’ll restart watching it”)

Speaking of Mia, I posted it on twitter but maybe you haven’t seen it: On August 20, 2000 JP time, there’s a show airing with Rizumu and So Min’s seiyuus, and the guests will be Mia and Karin’s seiyuus, and they’ll play the DMF board game.

Kinpri stageplay announced: KING OF PRISM -Over the Sunshine!-

Official site

There’s a “movie” tab which gives an error for now, I guess they’ll release a PV soon.

Official twitter

Twitter hashtag:

Anime News Network post about it

Script is by Aoba Jou, aka Pretty Rhythm&Kinpri Director Hishida Masakazu (aka Riru Riru Fairilu Director Gojou Sakura)

The actual director of the stage play is someone called 宇治川まさなり (not sure how his name is read). Seems he directed many other stage plays in the past like the Yowamushi Pedal stage play, or the Sengoku BASARA vs Devil May Cry stage play (yeah, I didn’t know this existed either, I want to see that).

They haven’t said for now whether it’ll be a completely new story or using the story from the movies. I don’t think it’ll be a new story. I think it’ll mostly be the first movie, with maybe a few changes.

When it was announced, director tweeted “please support Butakin”. He’s abbreviating the stage play as butai + Kinpri = Butakin. In the past he’s also the one who coined the “Kinpri” abbreviation for KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm and the “Kinpra” abbreviation for KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-, though I mostly use Kinpri2 instead of Kinpra, so it’s easier to get for people not familiar with Pretty Rhythm.
Some people told him to change the abbreviation but I hope it’ll stay this way. In any case I’ll keep calling it Butakin myself because this is so funny.

Sound Director Nagasaki Yukio said it’s been a while he’s been this surprised about an announcement.

Old time Pretty Rhythm fanartist Siokya san explained it’s because Director loves it when everyone uses an unique abbreviation so it sticks out during searches, so it’s easier for him to see people’s reactions. So Siokya said he’ll purposely use the emotes

🐷🈲 buta/pig and the emote for the kanji 禁/kin

to talk about the stage play,  to make it harder for director to search for it haha. Some other old times fans really like the Butakin abbreviation as well and will keep using it alongside with the emote version.

Marusaka san said “I hope the cast don’t fall into the dark side when training for Prism Jumps” (referencing AD and DMF)

Long time Pretty Rhythm fanartist Emu san said they should get the real DJ Koo to play DJ Coo.

Minako san saying it’s possible well’ get a Stage play with the girls one day and a DMF Grateful Symphonia stage play.

Another fan: “I always said Kinpri is a 2.5D movie, so if we’re getting a 2.5D stageplay of a 2.5D movie, it’ll be 2.5*2.5 and become a 6.25Dimension stage play.”

All the characters are played by different people than their seiyuu.

A fan made a listof the age and height of the actors, to compare it with the characters’

Except for Minato, who will be played by his seiyuu Igarashi Masashi. As you can see on his profile, he did many stage play roles in the past so he’ll definitely do a great job.

Soon after the announcement, Igarashi tweeted “If not for Kinpri, I wouldn’t have got the opportunity to be in such a stage play again”, that he’ll try to spread the prism sparkle with this stage play which can be considered in a sense 2.5D. And he said “The only one who can act Minato, IS ME!!” referencing Hiro’s line in Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live episode 18. Made me laugh a lot.

Enoki Azusa/Mion tweeted she’s happy Kinpri is getting a stage play, and that she knows Shin’s actor, she did the Bakumatsu Ookami Kick stage play with him.

It seems Tsubota Fumi isn’t working on Kinbuta. Would have been perfect if she helped with the scripts, as before writing for Pretty Rhythm, she used to write theater pieces, hence why she greatly contributed to making the Grateful Symphonia theater like episodes at the end of DMF.

Also, if you’ve been reading my blog for at least a year, you should already know that Koreans fans made their own fan stage play of Kinpri 1 at a convention. Director even retweeted it back when they put it on Youtube. I hope the official one will be at least as good as this.

In other news, Yamamoto Nozomi (Cosmo, Ai jozenji(Naru and Ito’s classmate),Ito’s pair tomo Kurun) finally saw Kinpri 2 today. She says she likes Street Style the best and wants to see the movie again.

Lastly, as always, I’m still saving info from the ongoing stage greetings, eagerly waiting for the KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO- DVD release so I’ll finally be able to read all the new background info and translate&publish it.

KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO- earned 183,433,400 yen as of June 20 with 110,329 tickets sold

These days I’m trying to save all the info I see from stage greetings with the seiyuus, interviews post movie release which contain spoilers, the Kinpri radio(the episode scheduled for June 23 will have Director Hishida Masakazu answering fanmail questions on the movie, next episode will have Kakihara so I think they’ll keep inviting seiyuus) etc etc. I’m waiting until seeing the movie before I read&publish all this, to not spoil myself. If God wills, when the movie is out on DVD, I’ll first do an impressions post without reading these to not “contaminate” my own impressions, then I’ll do another post with all the info I gathered.

I’m gathering everything in a folder. I remember that a lot of the info director was tweeting during Pretty Rhythm’s run on TV from 2011 to 2014, and info from the RL After Party and such events, ended being reworded/compiled in the Rainbow Live Guidebook and the All Star Selection Guidebook. So I’m pretty sure all that Kinpri2 info from stage greetings, prism elite meeting events, etc will probably be compiled in a new KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-  Official Guidebook. But I’m saving it anyway just in case. If a KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-  Official Guidebook happens, I’ll try to buy it and translate it like I’m doing with the others.

Source Director also said at one of the stage greetings that after finishing Kinpri2, his inspiration ran out, but by going to the various stage greetings and events with the seiyuus, hanging out&eating with them, he can feel the characters are still growing, and they might do another new sequel. He said that for now though, the second movie’s screenings and cheer screenings need to do well.

Gonna sound like a teen youtuber, but as I won’t make a post for every threshold, if you want news asap remember to follow my Twitter, which I linked above.
